We are in the right half of the year, at 1pm we will have crossed the halfway point of this 2020 that has given us no respite since it began. Today July 2, 2020 is 90 years old Ahmad JamalHe was born Frederick Russell Jones, until he converted to Islam in his early twenties. His public profile skyrocketed when in 1995, Clint Eastwood used two of his songs for the BSO of The Bridges of Madison County. Ahmad Jamal He has never been much of a traveler and has rarely left the United States, but in 1971 he performed at the Montreux Festival (in the podcast you can listen to the presentation of the historic concert). Jamal likes to define jazz, his language, as authentic American classical music.
